This competition was organized by DSO and was held from 8th -20th March 2010 at Singapore Science Centre.
A team of 5 DAA students (Samuel Loh, Vishal Vaswani, Tan Chung Wu, Kalenjit Singh and Ahmad Firdaus) clinched the most prestigious Championship award and 3 other silver awards (for Best Performance, Best Presentation and Best Aesthetics) at the Singapore Amazing Flying Machine Competition 2010. Throughout the process, they defeated 23 other teams from NUS and other Polytechnics and aced both the presentation and flying phases in the week long competition. This was a real testament of their ingenuity, perseverance and flying skills – the victory was even sweeter as the flying craft faced an unexpected glitch the day before the actual flying competition and the team had to stay back till 3:00 am to trouble-shoot and eventually resolved the problem.
Another team of DAA students (Tiffany Ramalingam, Lionel Ng, Tan Kian Kai, See Jie Sheng) also achieved excellent results in their first attempt at the Competition– bagging the Gold and Bronze awards for the Best Theory of Flight and they were the only team to have won the Microsoft Flight Log Book Award.Let us congratulate the winning teams again for their talents and passion in flight.
